The Mon Tiki Advisory Group is an informal brain trust composed of Montauk residents and friends from across the globe. They have a diverse range of experience and expertise in education, public policy, tourism, small business, economic development and community service.
Loraine Callow
Loraine is a passionate advocate for the natural world. She has more than 25 years experience fashioning public programs and policy across a wide variety of settings including the water industry, tourism, health, parks, in local government and with local communities
David Rutkowski
David is a life-long Montauk resident with deep roots in the community. At at 21 he purchased the landmark John's Drive-in and ran it for the next 22 summers, and for many Montaukers, John's Drive-in was their first experience at a real job. David's family currently owns and operates The Movie. His wife Maureen is actively involved with the Montauk Playhouse and Montauk Youth. They have two children in Montauk School.
Dennis Schlider
Dennis is a science teacher, outdoor leadership teacher, New York State lifeguard, and sailor. He is passionate about the value of the "living classroom". Dennis has designed cirriculumn in multiple outdoor school settings and for a range of age groups. Dennis and his wife Liz live in Montauk and have two children in Montauk School.
Jay Schneiderman
A one-time New York State certified science teacher, Jay is now the Suffolk County Legislator for the Second Legislative District, owner of The Breakers Bungalow Hotel in Montauk, and a tireless advocate for sustainable economic development on the East End. As former town supervisor for East Hampton he spearheaded open space land purchases that have benefited East End residents and visitors alike. He has two children in Southampton elementary.
Wendy Whiteside
Wendy is an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, and through her work with UMCOR she has deep experience in the area of sustainable community-based development projects both in the US and internationally.
R.L Wise
Bob Wise is a sailer, filmmaker and boatbuilder. A longtime advocate of sustainable design and low-impact building techniques, in 1992 Bob and his wife Sheila built the 11 meter ocean-going sharpie LOOSE MOOSE II. Bob and Sheila cruise LMII through France’s canal system, the Med, the west coast of Africa, travelled 200 miles up the Gambia River, and ultimately crossed the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Bob and Sheila are currently living aboard a rebuilt CAL34 which features electric auxiliary drive.
